{"id":144,"date":"2007-02-22T16:20:57","date_gmt":"2007-02-22T15:20:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bearlybeaded.co.uk\/blog\/?p=144"},"modified":"2007-02-26T22:13:49","modified_gmt":"2007-02-26T21:13:49","slug":"new-book","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.bearlybeaded.co.uk\/blog\/?p=144","title":{"rendered":"New book"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I spent the weekend in Nottingham, where Dad kindly spent some time counselling my computer, so that it now no longer feels the need to shut down if I ignore it for too long (although I had to compromise and remove my screensaver).\u00c2\u00a0 I was also able to pick up my post, including my brand new and shiny external hard drive (for storage and so I can <a title=\"Link to buy the book from Amazon UK\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.co.uk\/Beaders-Colour-Mixing-Directory\/dp\/1844482154\/sr=1-1\/qid=1172524181\/ref=sr_1_1\/202-4466279-8435849?ie=UTF8&#038;s=books\"><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"prodImage\" title=\"The Beader's Colour Mixing Directory\" alt=\"The Beader's Colour Mixing Directory\" src=\"http:\/\/ec1.images-amazon.com\/images\/P\/1844482154.01._AA240_SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg\" align=\"left\" \/><\/a>back-up everything in case my computer does decide to die on me), my copy of <a title=\"Art Doll Quarterly magazine\" href=\"http:\/\/www.artdollquarterly.com\/\">Art Doll Quarterly<\/a>, and &#8211; most exciting of all &#8211; my copy of <a title=\"Link the 'The Beaders Colour Mixing Directory' on Amazon\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.co.uk\/Beaders-Colour-Mixing-Directory\/dp\/1844482154\/sr=8-1\/qid=1172157203\/ref=pd_ka_1\/202-0836734-4468646?ie=UTF8&#038;s=books\">The Beaders Colour Mixing Directory<\/a> by <a title=\"Sandra Wallace's website\" href=\"http:\/\/www.sandrawallace.co.uk\/index.html\">Sandra Wallace<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 Sandra is a very nice lady I&#8217;ve taken a class with at the <a title=\"Link to the Great British Bead Show organised by the Beadworkers Guild\" href=\"http:\/\/www.beadworkersguild.org.uk\/guild_activities\/great_british_bead_show\/great_british_bead_show.php\">Great British Bead Show<\/a> in 2005, I&#8217;ve bumped into her a few times since,\u00c2\u00a0and this book is fabulous.\u00c2\u00a0 It&#8217;s clear, well laid out, and I think it&#8217;s a great introduction to colour theory as well as offering a wide range of suggested colour schemes to get you started.\u00c2\u00a0 And it&#8217;s got 6 of my pieces included in it!\u00c2\u00a0 In fact, to demonstrate the colour schemes in action it&#8217;s got a wide range of beadwork, mostly (if not all) from British beaders, which makes a lovely change when so many beading books come out of America.<\/p>\n<p>I had my life painting class again last night, where for the first time I tried to introduce colour into the painting (having spent a\u00c2\u00a0load of money on some new acrylics this weekend).\u00c2\u00a0 Unfortunately, I decided it was probably best to start off with a limited palette, and the painting is still grey!\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;m going to have to work on this&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Being back in Nottingham I also took the opportunity to hit Hotel Chocolat, where I stocked up on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hotelchocolat.co.uk\/rum-truffles-P110112\/\">truffles<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hotelchocolat.co.uk\/milk-waffles-P110004\/\">waffles<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hotelchocolat.co.uk\/Chocolate-Gemstones-P110104\/\">chocolate gemstones<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hotelchocolat.co.uk\/productmix.asp?pf_id=MIXSLAB&#038;selsku=210032\">dark orange chocolate bars<\/a>, a small tray of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hotelchocolat.co.uk\/chocolate-gianduja-P919\/\">gianduja<\/a>, a small tray of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hotelchocolat.co.uk\/Mint-Selection-P1676\/\">mint fondants<\/a>, and a small tray of whisky truffles.\u00c2\u00a0 As I still have some chocolate left over from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bearlybeaded.co.uk\/blog\/?p=141\">my shipment from home<\/a>, I&#8217;m maintaining that this isn&#8217;t a lack of self-control on my part &#8211;
