{"id":298,"date":"2010-02-10T16:58:19","date_gmt":"2010-02-10T16:58:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bearlybeaded.co.uk\/blog\/?p=298"},"modified":"2010-02-10T16:58:19","modified_gmt":"2010-02-10T16:58:19","slug":"reason-to-tidy-up-occasionally","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.bearlybeaded.co.uk\/blog\/?p=298","title":{"rendered":"Reason to tidy up (occasionally)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Some new windows are being fitted tomorrow, so I&#8217;ve spent some of today sorting out the spare room\/study\/library\/general dumping ground so the fitters can actually make it as far of the window.\u00a0 As a lot of what&#8217;s in there is books I&#8217;ve mostly been straightening up the bookcases that line the room, and along the way I came across this.<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bearlybeaded.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/P1010318-sm.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-299 alignleft\" title=\"P1010318 sm\" src=\"http:\/\/www.bearlybeaded.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/P1010318-sm-220x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"220\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.bearlybeaded.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/P1010318-sm-220x300.jpg 220w, http:\/\/www.bearlybeaded.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/P1010318-sm.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 220px) 100vw, 220px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a book of hungarian sewing, embroidery, crochet and cross stitch patterns that was my Grandmother&#8217;s.\u00a0 There&#8217;s an inscription and date inside the front cover that shows this was a gift to her just before she and my Mum left for the UK to join my Grandfather.\u00a0 It&#8217;s a real treasure trove of patterns, instructions and techniques, and you can see from indentations in some of the pages (and the occasional traced pattern tucked in the book) that my Grandmother was tracing some of the designs to use in her own work.\u00a0 This was a really lovely thing to find &#8211;
