The Beader's Colour Mixing Directory: 200 Failsafe Colour Schemes for Beautiful Beadwork

Sandra Wallace

Published by Search Press, March 2007

Colour has the ability to transform your beadwork from mundane to magnificent. This indispensable book features 200 failsafe colour schemes created especially for beaders. Targeted at the beginning beader as well as the seasoned artist, basic colour-mixing principles are explained, and you'll discover how finish can greatly alter the effect. The main directory section is organised into tonal groups and features a wide range of inspirational themes, from the clean, fresh colours of Spring Bouquet to the sizzling hues of Indian Spice. Each colour scheme is demonstrated on an item of jewelry to clearly show the effect, and graphic icons identify the precise colour mix and proportions used. It includes a selection of projects, with step-by-step instructions, allowing you to put your colour mixing theory into practice and create a range of beautiful beaded jewelry.

This lovely book includes a wide range of beadwork to demonstrate the colour schemes in action, including six pieces of my beadwork.

The Beader's Bible The Beader's Bible: Over 300 great charts for beadweavers

My book is finally out in print, and can be found in bookshops nationwide or purchased from Amazon.  It contains instructions for weaving on a loom and for peyote, brick, and square stitch, along with over 300 patterns to weave with these stitches.  At the back of the book there are guidelines for turning your finished pieces into necklaces, bracelets, napkin rings, cards, pictures, keyrings, curtain tiebacks...  It was a lot of fun to write it, and I think it's come out pretty well!
